Ever
went out in the rain without a coat or umbrella? Remember how
wet you got?
Now imagine all the noise. Not only just ordinary street noise
but really loud events - including live conserts of your favourite
Rock band or a long eevning in the disco. The effect remains
the same.
Too
high sound pressure level is acting to your in ear cilia which
have to transmit the sound inside your ear like a hammer on
grass. After a while beating on the same spot there will most
likely no grass grow for a longer while. Somewhat later everything
will be extinguished.
Hearsafe,
located in Cologne, Germany, is concentrating on ear protection.
You can get different earplugs with different attenuations -
even exchangeable for several applications.
Eckhard
Beste is the brain and manager behind Hearsafe.
He developed his business several years ago.
This "slightly oversized" model of a human ear on
the left is used to demonstrate how the sound transmission works. Here
it is shown clearly why "one size fits all" does not
work for quality earplugs. Ears come in all shapes and sizes
and so have to be the earplugs.
This
lucky guy gets what is called "otoplastic". This means
that his ears - each ear individually - is filled with an elastic
material to use the result either for a noise filter or for
an in ear monitor.
Who
says that audio can't be colourful? These otoplastics come in
different colours only limited by your imagination.
