Oh
yes, there are definitely different kinds of live music but definitely
the slogan of this year's High End show "better than live"
missed the point not only to my personal opinion. I hope that
next year's show promotion will be organized by the High End society
again instead of hiring an external PR agency. If
anyone from the responsible PR company would have listened to
the live music from the gipsy band that from time to time played
in changing locations all over the MOC area they wouldn't have
hat that idea... Dynamics, pace, timing, swing , low frequency
pitch definitions and tonal colours. Everything you can think
of - live and of course unmatchable by any kind of reproduction!
The High End society itself again did a very professional job
in supporting the exhibitors and running the show. The athmosphere
continously improved since the show moved from the Frankfurt Kempinsky
hotel to the Munich MOC.
So
the gipsy band even played to "audiophile standards",
something that the accordeon player in the bavarian local bar
where we arrived around half past eleven maybe did not even know
about. Believe it or not: his performance was not lacking a bit
of fun. We all got text sheets and sang along with the music.
Following a good tradition that we established in Frankfurt some
years ago I was out one evening with Terry O'Sullivan and Nigel
Pearson from Loricraft
and Martina Schoener
who developed the L'Art du Son record cleaning fluid and also
handles the German distribution of Garrard turntables and Loricraft
record cleaning machines. The picture on the right shows Martina
Schoener, Terry O' Sullivan and Thomas Doerner (left to right)
Great evening and very long too. We left around three in the morning
or so having to be up quite early some hours later. Terry
had introduced us as the "British Olympic drinking and
talking team" as he did the year before. What a surprise:
we were recognized again and treated perfectly. I am already looking
forward to next year...
