Head-fi.org
is probably largest online community concentrating on headphone related
topics and is based in the USA. Meetings of headfiers have taken place
there for years. In Germany so far only a very small meeting at Jan
Meier's house was held some time ago.
Then, some headfiers from the Netherlands had the idea to organize
a bigger meeting. So Holland was calling - and roughly half of the
attendees were from - Germany!
After initial problems with the location the meeting was finally held
at the Talens
Hotel in Coevorden near the Dutch/German border roughly 250km
from Cologne and should start at 9:30 am. Yours truly arrived at 9:20
and was the first one to be in the place. This was not too bad because
it gave time to set up some configurations without being in a hurry.
As I had the trunk loaded with equipment I had to walk several times
anyway.
The
people who had organized and booked the hotel had made the right choice.
The room would have been big enough for an even larger meeting and
was by no means loud or buzzy. The carpet and the table covering did
an effective job to dampen unwanted noise. Thanks do Jonas (Glod)
and Reiner (Richter Di) for arranging the booking of the hotel and
the lunch buffet.
Table settings had to be rearranged to be nearer to the mains outlets.
